A dark, negative and jaded reaction while in my second year at Ilam School of Fine Arts, to the Christchurch massacre on 15th March 2019, where 51 people lost their lives.

I was angry, in shock and utterly devastated that such a heinous act had happened due to racism and hate.
Ultimately, this work played upon the words “they are us” that became the uniting motto for Christchurch and their muslim community post shooting. This single run zine provides an insight and suggestion towards what exactly it means to be Pakeha, and the negative elements of our Western culture and ideologies.
The 24 page booklet was printed on a paper called White Knight with images appropriated from Christchurch City Council pamphlets, posters and way finding signage, retail mall advertising and drawn from personal images archives.
At the time of this zine being produced in 2019, there were no multicultural representations in any of the numerous (40+) brochures available at the City Council offices. Every individual was Pakeha.
