The whole of New Zealand went into Covid lockdown on 17th August 2021. I walked most days, and invested in longer more mindful strolls with my favourite headphones, and some thumping electronica.
As the weeks progressed, and as I moved away from negative feelings of isolation towards a more positive outlook, I started to explore and capture everyday spaces and compositions on the daily walks from my home in Strowan Christchurch, along Papanui Road to Hagley Park and back.
These images represent the observations and daily routine of ‘freedom’ walking. The collection is dark and light, positive and negative, random and ordered, and in essence bipolar- all of which represented my state of mind during the 2021 round of Covid lockdowns.
